The exhibition “100 Years of Lithuanian Ballet” is not what you expect

08 November, 2025

Would you like a selfie of yourself wearing some of the most beautiful ballerina costumes? Or perhaps you're curious to see what is happening right now in the main ballet studio of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, where the country's leading ballet dancers rehearse from morning till night? All this is now easy to do by visiting the interactive exhibition “100 Years of Lithuanian Ballet”, which you’ll find on the fifth floor of the Shopping Centre CUP in the capital.
“Throughout November, visitors to the Shopping Centre CUP will not only be able to learn about the history of the Lithuanian ballet, but will also have a unique opportunity to watch a live broadcast from the LNOBT Grand Ballet Hall. Thank you for creating wonderful art and sharing it,” said Ona Nevinskienė, General Manager of the Shopping Centre CUP, at the exhibition opening, expressing her delight at the long-standing neighbourly partnership with the country’s most prestigious theatre, visible across the river Neris.
“This is an interactive exhibition unlike any we have ever had before. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to peek through the keyhole and see what the ballet dancers’ lives are like at this very moment. It also offers an insight into the development of Lithuanian ballet, which began a hundred years ago – on 4 December 1925 – with the premiere of “Coppélia”* at the State Theatre in Kaunas. “Today’s LNOBT ballet company is a world-class ensemble capable of professionally presenting a repertoire of the most diverse styles,” emphasised Laima Vilimienė, General Director of the LNOBT.
