Mantas Petruškevičius has created a true arctic fairy tale at the Shopping Centre CUP: some of the sets were produced by the creator of Disneyland characters
Symbolically – with just a month to go until Christmas – the Shopping Centre CUP is announcing the start of the festive season and inviting Vilnius residents and visitors to the capital not only to drop by for entertainment or shopping, but also to admire the special decorations created by florist and decorator Mantas Petruškevičius, inspired by arctic nature.
As Mantas Petruškevičius explains, since the shopping centre and its top 5th floor, where the decorations will be on display, are modern and futuristic, this year he has chosen a theme of ice and arctic nature.
“Christmas is a celebration not just for children, but for adults too. Adults also enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and various decorations, so this time I chose a theme that will appeal to both adults and children. The decorations were inspired by Arctic nature, so they feature elements reminiscent of ice, white fir trees and penguins,” says M. Petruškevičius.
According to him, the arctic theme allows for maximum visual impact – it is decorative, full of detail and very lively.
“Penguins are not yet a very common element in Christmas decorations in Lithuania. To create the most impressive effect possible, I chose to use them in a wide variety of sizes – from 180 cm to 120 cm. The penguins aren’t made in Lithuania; I ordered them from a supplier in Ireland who creates all sorts of characters, even for the famous Disneyland,” says Mantas Petruškevičius.
According to Ona Nevinskienė, Manager of the Shopping Centre CUP, festive season at the shopping centre is special every year, but this year, with the help of M. Petruškevičius’s creations, they have managed to create an even more impressive atmosphere.
“We wanted a visit to the Shopping Centre CUP to be not just about shopping or entertainment, but also an emotional experience. This year, arctic Christmas installation, which welcomes visitors, is an invitation to briefly escape from everyday life and immerse oneself in a fairy-tale atmosphere. We are delighted that this space has already attracted huge interest in its first few days and has become a centre of attraction for both children and adults,” says O. Nevinskienė.
