On 13th January, at 5 pm, we invite you to the opening of the exhibition “The Art of the Battlefield”, which sheds light on the war experiences Ukrainians have faced daily for nearly three years.
“The Art of the Battlefield” is a unique exhibition where traditional Ukrainian decorative and applied arts blend with elements of military munitions and remnants of combat operations. Since 2015, more than 200 craftsmen from across Ukraine have created hundreds of unique works that have become powerful symbols of invincibility, creativity, and longing for peace.
The special opening programme of the event will feature a grand opening, awards for Lithuanian volunteers by the Ukrainian House and partner organisations from Ukraine, musical performances, a presentation of volunteer initiatives of the Republic of Lithuania in support of Ukraine, and masterclasses for children and adults.
The exhibition consists of three unique displays:
• Military artefacts used by Russian forces in the war against Ukraine, presented by the National Museum of Ukrainian Military Valour;
• Art of the Battlefield – an unusual collection of artworks combining military artefacts and Ukrainian folk art;
• A photographic exhibition “The Tragedy of Bucha”, showcasing authentic images taken by volunteers at the sites of the occupiers’ crimes, after the liberation of the Bucha district from Russian occupation.
The main message of this exhibition – “The light of life is stronger than the darkness of war.”
The exhibition is organised by the Ukrainian House in Lithuania together with the support fund “We Survived. We Will Revive. We Will Rebuild.”
Partners – the International Ukrainian School in Lithuania, “Vilniaus vorai”, Vyshyvanka4U, CUP shopping centre.
You can visit the exhibition on the 4th floor of CUP SC until 20th February.
