Famous Lithuanian women photograph unique reflections
This year, the eighth edition of the exhibition “My Best Shot”, featuring photographs created by prominent Lithuanian women, returned with the topic “Reflections”. Nearly 60 participants – artists from various fields, actresses, musicians, writers, businesswomen, doctors, prominent public figures and representatives of other fields – reveal an original interpretation of the topic, an unexpected view of the world through a female lens.
The exhibition features the Germany-based writers Jolita Herlyn and Lina Ever, Vaiva Rykštaitė based in Hawaii, Dalia Staponkutė in Cyprus, Erika Umbrasaitė in France, Jurga Baltrukonytė in Tenerife, cultural attaché Akvilė Kavaliauskaitė in the USA, musicians Neda Malūnavičiūtė and Jurga Šeduikytė, actresses Emilija Latėnaitė and Gabija Jaraminaitė, Eglė Jackaitė, Monika Dirsytė, Gražina Baikštytė, Nijolė Narmontaitė, artists Nomeda Marčėnaitė, Meda Narbutaitė, Miglė Kosinskaitė, Indra Marcinkevičienė, TV presenters Audrė Kudabienė, Eglė Daugėlaitė, Eglė Kernagytė, Renata Šakalytė-Jakovleva, Indrė Kavaliauskaitė, Vaida Poderytė-Bernatavičė, director Giedrė Žickytė, economist and politician Ingrida Šimonytė, fashion trend analyst Marija Palaikytė-Franchini, businesswomen, doctors, journalists, social activists…
Both those living in Lithuania and famous Lithuanian women scattered across the globe capture topical moments, stories, fragments of journeys, inner states, loved ones, husbands, children and emotions in their photographs. “This is a collection of moments that surprise, make you smile, reflect, and admire,” say the exhibition organisers Aurika Merkienė and Erika Šimkūnienė. “In this exhibition, reflections are not merely a physical phenomenon, but a deeper metaphor for self-reflection and beauty; an intimate narrative of the landscapes of a woman’s soul, stories told through flashes of light.”
The exhibition will be on display for the entire month – from 23 March to 23 April – and visitors can vote for their favourite photograph online on the portal lrytas.lt.
From 23 April, the exhibition “My Best Shot. Reflections” will be open all summer in the exhibition and events space on the 5th floor of the Shopping Centre CUP. The photographs, transferred onto canvas, reflect what is sensitive, genuine, aesthetic and inspiringly feminine.
“We are delighted that, particularly during this period of great change and uncertainty, the traditional exhibition of photographs of famous Lithuanian women is returning to our Shopping Centre’s exhibition space,” smiles Ona Nevinskienė, General Manager of the Shopping Centre CUP. “The photographs of women with diverse experiences reflect both their inner selves and the era in which we live. The exhibition “My Best Shot” has always been popular – it was visited by tens of thousands of the Shopping Centre’s visitors. It’s wonderful that we’ll once again be creating a spectacle for our guests in the newly renovated fifth-floor space at the Shopping Centre CUP, which is ideal for exhibitions, meetings, a quick breather during lunch break or after work.”
The event’s partner and sponsor is the Shopping Centre CUP.
