Education in the exhibition space on the 4th floor of CUP SC

07 February, 2025

On 9 February from 14:00 to 16:00, you are invited to the "Lialki – motanki" weaving on the 4th floor of CUP SC.

The motanka doll (lal'ka-motanka in Ukrainian) is more than just a toy – it is a work of art filled with deep meaning and symbolism. It serves as an amulet, protecting its owner from negative influences and bringing good fortune to the home, acting as a talisman for the entire family. The motanka doll is known as the “Guardian” (Bereginya), a figure in Eastern Slavic mythology that embodies a woman’s strength, wisdom, and desire to protect and nurture her family. As mystical as it may sound, this traditional Ukrainian doll is believed to create a connection between generations. Therefore, if you own a motanka doll, you can expect the energy of your whole family to safeguard your home.

We look forward to welcoming you to “The Art of the Battlefield” exhibition space!

The Art of the Battlefield – a unique exhibition where traditional Ukrainian decorative and applied art merges with elements of military munitions and remnants of combat operations.

Since 2015, more than 200 craftsmen from different regions of Ukraine have created hundreds of unique works that have become powerful symbols of invincibility, creativity and longing for peace.

During the exhibition, we invite you to explore and experience the interaction between art and military ammunition through educational activities, and to take part in the events and discussions being organised.
